❄️ Hi guys!! I hope you’re having the best day & you’re enjoying your reading 💞  Today I bring you our beloved Wrap Up of the month of July where I’ll talk about all the books I’ve read during the month. July really flew for me, I feel it happened SO fast, don’t you think? God, the year, in general, is flying by. So how was my month? SO GOOD, actually, I feel very HAPPY for how I’ve done it this month with both, my readings and my interaction with you, which is always a priority for me, and everything that has to do with blogging life has been very positive as well.😊 I’ve been very committed to learning more about blogging stuff because I think there’s always something else to learn and improve and I have many surprises to share with you in the next month, and I’m super excited about it, I still don’t want to tell anything, though. I really feel more and more committed to my blog, more excited to do new things and I really feel that it has become a very important part of my life so that makes me feel enthusiastic and complete. 👏🏻

💞 I want to THANK YOU as every month for being there for me, always supporting me and giving me encouragement to continue and improve every day. It’s already like a habit for me to thank you each month, but, it’s very important for me that you know this, so I wouldn’t want to not to say so. 💞

I’ve participated in The Book Junkie Trials Read-A-Thon, 🌟  which I adored, I remember that I planned to take July as a chill month, without reading anything other than what I wanted and well when I saw that this read-a-thon was so original and unique, I knew I couldn’t miss it!. 😍  It was a lot of fun, I couldn’t complete it, though, I just missed the group book, so I’m a bit sad about that, but on the other hand, I found an INCREDIBLE book thanks to this read-a-thon, so I’m more than happy to have participated. Besides seeing what everyone was reading and sharing that experience was so AMAZING.

So going back to my readings… OMG, it has been a great month!!, you’ll see more in my statistics below, but it has been a month where I feel that I’ve read things that I really wanted to read, so despite not having enjoyed all of them, I’m happy to have tried. I have a couple of disappointments between my readings but the majority of the books were all SO PRECIOUS. Super different concepts, a lot of fantasy, because who would I be, right? 😅, and I tried a genre that has always intimidated me a little. Without further ado, I’m dying to start sharing with you all about the books I’ve read, and I also have some post recommendations around the blogosphere that you won’t want to miss! 💫

Let’s get started!❄️

🐉 The Book Junkie Trials || Books Read ⚔️

Two I LOVED

💫 Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1) by Neal Shusterman || I loved this book, I think it’s a very unique concept of dystopian, something I’d never really read before. It discusses a lot about death and its meaning since it’s the center point of the plot. It’s really good, I highly enjoyed it. It has one of the best world-building I’ve read, it’s complex and well thought out, and that makes you stay and keep reading, just to know more about that system of a world where there are no more natural deaths and the world has come to solve all the problems of humanity, and it has surpassed itself. Another thing that I love about the book is that it presents the kind of character I like, wise and interesting to follow. I LOVED it, the end left me speechless, so I hope to read the continuation soon, many of you have told me that it’s even better than this one, so I’m excited!

4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 || FULL REVIEW

💫 The Last Namsara (Iskari #1) by Kristen Ciccarelli || I’m IN LOVE with this book, I honestly believed that this year I couldn’t find that book that, under my POV, deserves the full 5 stars. I know that you’ll be thinking, “Sofi you already gave 5 stars to Women in Science & We Should All Be Feminists” and I KNOW!!, but they’re very short books or short stories so when I say that this is my first 5 stars, I mean an entire length novel, I hope to explain myself well lol.
Basically, this book has EVERYTHING I love, it’s a high fantasy about a dragon-hunting princess and her quest to hunt down this huge legendary dragon “Kozu” that destroyed her home when she was just a child. There’s much more I want to tell you about it, so I’ll do it in my full review very soon. But honestly, an INCREDIBLE book, has unexpected plot-twists that broke my heart, has a BEAUTIFUL romance, I was already in need of some of that, is credible and full of feelings. The characters are complex and each story is interesting. It has a lot of royalty family drama. And finally, I highlight a lot the world, it’s not very extensive really, but it’s beautiful, and also the writing is so good!, it has chapters where the writer tells us legends about the origins of this world, and I’m completely IN LOVE with ALL THIS. and DRAGONS!!!, what else do you need to know?! READ IT!

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Two Disappointments

💫 An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson || This is a book with a LOT of potential, and although it wasn’t for me, I understand why others could enjoy it. The author’s writing style is very beautiful, that’s why I still want to read her other works.
When I started reading this book I really loved it, and I think it was very good until the 100 pages and from there it was just a big click and just go downhill. Firs,t I want to mention the positive things, I liked the writing, the main character I think it had good aspects, I liked the descriptions a lot and I think it was very atmospheric in the beginning. On the other hand, I didn’t enjoy the romance at all, it seemed terrible to me, and I’m very sorry but it’s really what I felt, I couldn’t connect at all with what was happening between them, for me, it didn’t make sense and the insta-love is very evident. I also don’t like very long journeys in books and this is mostly that. I don’t like the ending either and I got quite bored, which is hard to say about a book because I never want to un-appreciate someone else’s work, but it’s my honest and humble opinion, just that.

2.5/5 ⭐️⭐️ 💫 || FULL REVIEW

💫 To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo || Well, in this case, I wasn’t very surprised by how I felt about this book. I have a big problem with the plots that take place in the ocean/sea, on top of a boat/ship or under the water, I don’t know why but it so hard to me get into and feel committed to the story. It’s something SUPER PERSONAL, and that’s why in this case I think that I am the problem lol.
This book is presented as a Little Mermaid retelling but darker and although it’s dark in the beginning, it really transforms into the typical YA story about Mermaids, I don’t think it has something that makes it really original or special. On the other hand, I adore the main character, especially at the beginning when she was evil and ruthless, then without any reason, she’s the sweetest and immediately falls in love (insta-love detected), which always annoys me SO MUCH. And we have Elian, and he’s one of the worst characters I’ve read about, it’s so obvious all the time EVERYTHING that’s happening, but he doesn’t see any of that, and I just couldn’t stand it. Now that I remember it makes me laugh because it was SO OBVIOUS, but at that time I was suffering lol. And finally the “great final battle” was very confusing, I didn’t understand anything until they stopped fighting. It just isn’t the book for me. I think I should start to be very selective with my books if they happen at sea or have aquatic things, that don’t work anymore for me

🌔 ARC of the Month || AMAZING Conclusion✨

44780383. sy475

I LOVED IT!! This beautiful book is the third and final one to The Oremere Chronicles, which I ‘ve been so fortunate to discover and love this year. The author has been so kind as to send me the books to review, and the growth of this series never ceases to amaze me. This particular one is absolutely everything I expected and even more. The characters are SO GOOD and realistic, I’m going to miss them so much, especially Swinton, one of the characters with greater growth and maturation I’ve read about, he’s extraordinary. I love the world and how it has expanded, and above all the author’s writing does nothing but improve with each book, I really appreciate that.
This is a trilogy that deserves more love, so if you’re looking for a High Fantasy with relatable characters and a story full of plot twist that will leave you just wanting more, then this is the one for you. It also has very original things like fantastic animals and lots of elemental magic.
An incredible conclusion, I’m SO HAPPY about having committed myself to start this journey, and also kind of melancholy because it’s over

❄️ First Buddy-Reading EVER 🍃

I Buddy-Read this with the INCREDIBLE & SWEET 🌸 Rita || Bookish Rita || 🌸, I’m really SO grateful to her for making this a very positive experience for me, I had no idea what I was doing but she guided the whole situation and it was great, I had a great time reading this book with her.
We both love the book so I’m SUPER HAPPY about it. It’s really a very hard book because it’s based on real historical facts, so it’s at the same time that you enjoy it, because the writing style is beautiful and also the story is very well told, you suffer as well, because it makes you see the reality that so many people have had to go through and is devastating but it also opens your eyes and makes you realize many things. In my case, also taught me a lot since I don’t know much of what had happened, so I really appreciate what this book has left me.
A beautiful book but also heartbreaking. I highly recommend it, everyone should read it

  1. I’m so sorry about To Kill A Kingdom! That was one of the ones I enjoyed last year but I didn’t like Seafire or whatever that book was called mostly for the whole over water plot thing you had mentioned for To Kill a Kingdom so I do understand. I know you didn’t mention Seafire, but that is how I do get your feelings about your book you read.

    1. I’m SO happy you enjoyed Scythe too! It’s an INCREDIBLE book, the idea is so original. It makes me so happy that you add The Last Namsara to your TBR, it’s worth reading, I think is a wonderful book, so I hope you enjoy it! 💕
Yes, no doubt, To Kill A Kingdom is a hit or miss, I hope that if you read it, you’ll enjoy it more than I did
      Have a GREAT month 😊

  2. Great reading month! I loved To Kill and Kingdom but I know not all books are for everyone! I’ve had so many great reads! All 5 stars so it’s been a cracking month! I would say The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg was my favourite! Great wrap up

  3. I’m bummed that you didn’t love Enchantment of Ravens but I do recommend reading her new one; it’s all the witty banter and magical libraries you could ever ask for 🙂 also glad you loved The Last Namsara and Between Shades of Grey!

    1. Oh, I’ll be absolutely reading Sorcery of Thorns! I’ve heard the best things even from people who haven’t enjoyed Enchantment of Ravens so I’m excited. I also really want to give the author another chance because I liked her writing style 😊
YAY! I really adored The Last Namsara and Between Shades of Gray, both super different but equally impactful 😍
I hope you have an INCREDIBLE August! 💕

  4. I’m glad you had a good reading/blogging month! Even if you didn’t enjoy all of the books.
I’m exactly the same with books set at sea/on boats, they just really don’t appeal to me. So whilst To Kill A Kingdom has had great reviews and does have an interesting premise, I don’t think I’ll bother with it.

    1. Thank you SO much, Emme! 💕
OMG, I’m so glad someone finally understands me!! 😅, really from my humble opinion, I think you make the right decision, cause if you’re like me and you don’t enjoy that kind of thing, I feel you might not enjoy that one.
I hope you have an INCREDIBLE August 😊

  5. Sofii I loved reading post and I love your personality so much 💜💜💜 I haven’t heard of the Last Namsara before but I have to check it out now! Also, I think I’m still gonna read An Enchantment of Ravens but I’m definitely gonna have to keep your complaints in mind. I also did my first buddy read this month, & sadly it wasn’t very successful because we weren’t reading at the same pace, but I loved reading their updates and sending my own!! I hope you have a lovely August ❤️

Oh, I understand, the reading paced can be an inconvenient sometimes, but I’m glad you shared your opinions with each other despite that. If you ever want to buddy-read something with me, I would love to! Just let me know 🤗

  6. Hi Sofii, thank you for including my post in this wrap up! ❤

Congratulations on finishing the reading challenge! I've heard so many amazing things about Scythe, that even though it's been a while since I'm interested in dystopia, I just want to give it a try! I've also heard so much hype about The Enchantment of Ravens and To Kill A Kingdom, in fact the latter is one of the highest book on my TBR. I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy it though 😦

    Liked by 1 person

    1. You’re welcome, honey!, it’s a pleasure 😊

I highly recommend Scythe, it’s an INCREDIBLE book and the world and its concept are the best parts, I think you could enjoy it and everyone says that the second book is even better, so I’m excited to go for it!
Oh, I hope you love The Enchantment of Ravens and To Kill A Kingdom once you read it, really, I know that my opinions are unpopular with both of them, so there’s a good chance you’ll like them or so I hope 😄

I hope you have an amazing reading month!❤️
