💫 Hi guys, I hope you’re having a beautiful day! Today I bring you another part of our series, the book meme “Down the TBR Hole”which I’m doing hoping that it will help me to reduce the number of books that are in my current TBR

My plan is to upload this meme every week!. I’ll show you 10 books of which I’ll choose which one I’ll keep or get rid of. I want to make this weekly meme as interactive as possible, so I’ll be consulting a lot with you, to decide what to do. There will be those books which I’ll be interested in (Keep), those which I’ll not be interested in anymore (GO) and those which I’ll not be sure about, and with those, I’ll need your help. So please, let me know all your thoughts in the comments and I’ll be able to take my decision and let you know in the next post. 💫

I’m very happy because I’ve seen that you have participated a lot in the previous post, leaving me your comments, so I’m super excited to continue with this weekly meme.
If you’re doing the same meme right now, let me know so I can check your post out and leave my thoughts there 💖

☕️ #1 – Fireworks by Katie Cotugno

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary/Romance book. Couldn’t be described better than it does in its blurb “Is about a girl who competes with her best friend to become the new pop star of the moment, and all the drama and romance that comes with it, set in Orlando during the late-’90s boy-and-girl-band craze”
I’ve been really wanting to read something from the author, I’ve heard some very good things but also some bad ones, even though I’m interested in having more of her writing style, I read a short story of her, one that came in the book “Meet Cute” and I liked it a lot, so I think it would be fun to get into one of its full novels. Of all the books that I’ve checked this has the most fun promise so it’s the one that I’ll choose to try, anyway I accept more recommendations below in the comments! it will be of great help. Tell me as well what you think if you’ve read the book! 😊

☕️ #2 – The Merciless (The Merciless #1) by Danielle Vega

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Paranormal/Horror book. Follows Sofia, she’s new to school and has the great desired to fit in, on her first day she meets Riley, Grace, and Alexis, and she admires them for her perfect appearance, so in search of being her friend Sofia agrees to help them to “save” Brooklyn, but what she doesn’t know is that the girls think that Brooklyn is possessed and want to perform an exorcism. But their ways of doing it look more like torture and once Sofia realizes what’s happening is terrible, she’ll realize that there’s no way to escape. “Forgive us, Father, for we have sinned”
OMG, this book sounds good and very engaging, I really like the idea for the horror genre. I haven’t heard many things about this series although the covers are beautiful, I must say. Yes, I read a couple of not very positive reviews, so I’ll try not to have so many expectations but I’m sure I want to try it because the book isn’t really long and the main character has my name lol, I can’t be the only one to read a book for that, right? 😅

☕️ #3 – The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olson

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Sci-Fi/Dystopian book. In a world that is at war, controlled by a powerful group called Wolfpack, Eden desires to escape from the hands of her tormentors to the only neutral terrain left, a place called Sanctuary Island. but once there, one of Eden’s friends disappears and they’ll discover that what inhabits the island can be more terrifying than what they left behind.
This book was translated into Spanish and its title is “Imperio de Lobos” which means “Wolves Empire” and I think it sounds much better than its original title. When this book came out, everyone was talking about it and I thought it sounded really good, so I added it without thinking too much, after a while, I had a clean up in my TBR and I never let it go because I thought the promise was something completely different, in my head this book was something like the movie “Cast Away”, I don’t know why lol. Right now re-reading the blurb, although I feel it sounds pretty good, it’s not something I really want to read, I’ve also seen quite average reviews, so I’ll let it go this time  👋🏻

☕️ #4 – Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary/Romance book. Follows Grace, a young woman who wants to escape from a house where she lives with her abusive parents, and follow her own dreams. Then Gavin enters to her life, a boy as talented and charming, as controlling and dangerous. When these two falls in love, Grace has no idea that their relationship will become a prison which she will not be able to escape from.
This book will surely be very hard and moving. From what I’ve heard about it, it follows what would be a toxic and violent relationship, so I’m sure that it will touch my feelings, I’ve read a book with a similar theme before, and even though I was heartbroken, I enjoyed it at the same time due to the final message, so I’m interested in reading this one and see what perspective and what “message” the author will handle. Certainly a book with a very delicate theme, so I hope it’s worth it, I’ve heard the best things

☕️ #5 – Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary book ( with LGBTQ Characters). Follow Natasha “Tash” Zelenka who’s the creator of an amateur web series, called “Unhappy Families” which has recently gone viral. Her series is a modern adaptation of Anna Karenina, written by her literary love, Count Lev Nikolayevich “Leo” Tolstoy. Tash is enjoying everything that is happening with her series, but at the same time, she has started a cyber-flirtation with Thom Causer and must consider the idea of telling her that she’s romntic asexual. Tash wants to enjoy her newfound fame, but will she lose her friends in her rise to the top? What would Tolstoy do?
I really like the fact that the book follows an asexual character, there are not much of these representations so I know that it will be very appreciated by the community, even though, the book itself doesn’t sound interesting to me, the promise is a little weak to me, so, sadly, I’ve decided to let it go, even though I’m interested in reading an asexual representation soon!  👋🏻

☕️ #6 – The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary/Romance book. Drifting after the sudden death of her sister Bailey, Lennie is divided between the quiet and seductive Toby, Bailey’s boyfriend who shares her grief, and Joe, the city’s new guy who bursts with life and genius musical. Each one offers Lennie something she desperately needs … although she knows that if the two collide, her whole world will explode.
The thing is, I don’t know why I haven’t read this book yet, Jandy Nelson is the author of I’ll Give You The Sun aka one of my favorite book EVER, so I really have to go for this one, I feel I’ll love it. It sounds like will be a lot of grief, and healing in this book, and that combined with the author’s beautiful writing style should be perfect. I’m dying to read it, there are no excuses here, I also have the physical book so I think it will happen soon 💕

☕️ #7 – The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Historical-Fiction book. follows multiple characters and says something like this: “Ruth has a secret that she can’t hide forever. Dora wonders if she can ever truly escape where she comes from, even when good luck suddenly comes her way. Alyce is trying to reconcile her desire to dance with the life she’s always known on her family’s fishing boat. Hank and his brothers decide it’s safer to run away than to stay home—until one of them ends up in terrible danger.”
I think this book sounds very interesting and like a great riddle to me, I’m not sure if it’s something I’ll enjoy but it’s something that really catches my attention, especially because I’ve heard the best things about it and it takes place in Alaska which it’s super original. I’m excited to try it, it’s a very short book so I’ll not be losing much if I don’t enjoy it. That cover is BEAUTIFUL

☕️ #8 – Shadow Study (Soulfinders #1) by Maria V. Snyder

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Fantasy book. I can’t say much about it because although it’s designated as a new trilogy, it actually continues the Poison Study books story, its plot and its characters.
I know this will be hard because the full series, in general, has a lot of fans, but although I adore the first 2 books, the third and final of the first trilogy was a let down for me, and although I love the author’s writing style it’s not a plot that I want to continue, so I think leaving it where I left it’s the best decision, even so, I love Valek and I just wanted to mention it lol  👋🏻

☕️ #9 – Unteachable by Leah Raeder

|| Goodreads ||

This is a NA Contemporary/Romance book. When Maise meets Evan at a carnival one night, their chemistry is immediate, intense, and short-lived. Which is exactly how she likes it: no strings. But afterward, she can not get Evan out of her head. He’s taught her that a hookup can be something more. It can be an unexpected connection with someone who truly understands her. Someone who sees beyond her bravado to the scared but strong girl inside.
That someone turns out to be her new film class teacher, Mr. Evan Wilke.
Smart, sexy, and provocative, Unteachable is about what happens when a love story goes off-script.
I’m saving this book for when I feel like reading a kind of taboo romance since I’m trash for this type of student-teacher relationships, so I think I could enjoy it. I almost read it several times, so I know I’m close to doing it, maybe in the next Smuth-A-Thon  👍🏻

☕️ #10 – Am I Normal Yet? (The Spinster Club #1) by Holly Bourne

|| Goodreads ||

This is a YA Contemporary book (Mental Health). All Evie wants is to be normal. She’s almost off her meds and at a new college where she does not know her as the girl-who-went-crazy. She’s even going to parties and making friends. There’s only one thing left to tick off her list …
I’ve heard the best things about the author’s books, so I’m very looking forward to reading some of them, I’ve heard that her books are feminist and diverse so this is a very good place to start. You have to let me know what you think if you’ve read it, I’ve seen some reviews and they’re amazing, so it only makes me feel even more excited to read it 👏🏻

  1. Hi Sofi,
    I also wanted to read a book by Jandy Nelson! From the plot I think I’ll enjoy more “I’ll Give You The Sun”, but “The Sky Is Everywhere” seems interesting as well.
    On the contrary “The Merciless” doesn’t seem something for me. I’ve heard a BookTuber talking about the series, but horror isn’t really my genre. If you are searching for good reviews about these books, maybe you can try to watch hers. I don’t know if she has done a review for every volume, because I’m not interested in the series, but you can check. Her name is paperbackdreams, she’s great and I love her reviews.

    Lastly I wanted to tell you that I have done your Book Tag and I really enjoyed it. If you want to see my answers, I’ll leave you the link:

    I’ve answered both in Italian and English, so that you could read them. It was funny, but also exhausting!

      I’ll be totally checking her reviews! thanks for letting me know 😊
      OMG!! I’m SO happy you have done the tag!, and the fact that you’ve done it in both languages is incredible, must have taken you a long time, so I thank you so much. I’ll be checking it out right now 💕

        My blog is in italian too so… I simply added the English tranlsation so that you could understand.😉
        Yes, it took me a long time, but it was great fun. And thank you for having created this wonderful tag.💜

  2. Fireworks and Bad Romance are both books I’ve been wanting to read. I already own Bad Romance so I’m keen to read it this year – hope you get around to it sometime soon too if you’re keeping it on the tbr 🙂

  3. I’ve read a Holly Bourne book (The Manifesto on How To Be Interesting) and I really enjoyed it and how she wrote. The stories are entertaining but also talk about important topics which I like!! I want to read more of her books!! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Am I Normal Yet? so I’m excited to read it too!!
    I really hope you enjoy Holly’s work!

  4. Good choice of letting The Sandcastle Empire go. It’s awful, and if I remember correctly, there’s not a single sandcastle present in the book, so I probably missed something vital because I still have no clue how the title is relevant to anything that happened in it. It read like a first draft, to be honest xD
