January TBR [2018] & Some Plans for 2018💕

Copia de Copia de SPRINGTIME (2)

Hi babes! I hope you’re having a great day. Today I bring you my TBR of the month of January, where I tell you about the readings that I’ve planned for this month. OMG guys, it’s the first TBR of the year !, I’m so excited! I hope this year to be able to read much more than last year but still I don’t want to feel rushed about it, you know?…

My Goodreads Challenge is 50 this year, it’s a fairly low number for what I usually read, but I’m happy and comfortable with it. I know I’ll read more than 50 books this year but I’ve put this number as a goal since I don’t want to feel pressured, this was a big problem for me last year, wanting to read just to reach my goal in Goodreads is not right and I have come to think that I don’t have to feel so anxious about it, I just want to enjoy reading and keep sharing with you. Sometimes we forget why we start blogging or even reading, due to all the pressures that this world puts in you, and guys, the struggle is real. This year I want to relax about it and I’ll only focus on reading because I love doing it and not because I feel I have to.

I hope you continue to accompany me this year, I want to thank you all so much for having been with me during my first year with my blog, you have been an incredible support and I couldn’t ask for more. I hope you continue to leave your comments, I love knowing what are you reading and that you’re feel free to share your thoughts on reading in general with me is amazing, I also hope you continue checking my content because that is what makes me happier.

I want to let you know that I’ll also be uploading my Rating System soon so that you can check it out, I have realized that I have never done one lol and although I know for sure you already know what each number means, I’ll do it anyway, since this year I want to be a little more demanding with the books I read, so I guess you’ll see a little lower notes and a 5 star will really be a book who I love completely.

Of course I’ll continue with my usual content like Reviews, Wrap up, TBR, Bookish Update, Weekly Memes and that kind of things, I really want to make more Tags, I know that many of you have tagged me and I’m so gratefull , but I haven’t been able to do all of them yet, so I would like to do more, especially those that interest me the most, the funiest ones and those who I feel that will serve so that you can know me more.
I always try to comment on each blog, sometimes it’s a bit difficult because I follow alot of you lol, but I think I can improve on this, the most beautiful of this community are people so I want to support all your works, commenting and giving likes in your publications.

As for ARCs and those things which have been somewhat difficult for international bloggers like me, the following will happen… I still have some that I have to review, I always love to get ARCs, who doesn’t?! But now that NetGalley and some publishers have restrained the advanced copies for internationals readers, this will be quite difficult for me, even so I’ll continue uploading content, I’ll continue reading releases, but I’ll not have the same access to them as last year and I hope this doesn’t be a problem for you.
I have joined Edelweiss for the first time!, after seeing how a thousand tutorials I think I’m already understanding how works lol. I’ve already been approved with my first ARC !!, so I think I’m doing it right, I think haha. This page is quite complicated and that is why I have not joined till now, but I’ll try anyway, I may be surprised.

I’ll always be open to opinions and advice to improve, as long as they’re respectful. So I hope that this is a great year for my blog as well as for each one of you!

Ok, let’s go back to what it brings us here, which is my TBR for the month of January, and without further ado let’s get to know it!

Currently Reading

Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder

60510Choose: A quick death…Or slow poison…

About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She’ll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace—and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.

And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly’s Dust—and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison.

As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can’t control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren’t so clear…

Goodreads

I’m on page 286 through it, and I’m really enjoying it, especially all the political drama aspect and Valek is such an interesting character, so I want to know more and more. I hope to finish it between today and tomorrow and upload my first review of the year!

NetGalley ARC

32994106Flynn: At first we were almost strangers. But ever since I moved to New York, Amos was the one person I could count on. And together we were there for Poppy. (I mean, what kind of parents leave their kid to be raised by a nanny?) I just didn’t expect to fall for him—and I never expected him to leave us.

Amos: I thought I was the only one who felt it. I told myself it was because we were spending so much time together—taking care of Poppy and all. But that night, I could tell she felt it, too. And I freaked out—you’re not supposed to fall for your stepsister. So I ran away to boarding school. I should have told her why I was leaving, but every time I tried, it felt like a lie.

One missed flight was about to change their lives forever….

Goodreads

Step-siblings falling in love is a big taboo thing, but after reading Forbidden I opened my mind a bit, besides, that book broke my heart, I recommend it if you’re looking for a Tabu reading.
So I’m mostly interested in seeing how this topic is handled, doesn’t have many positive reviews and that has somehow made it even more interested.

Continuing and Finishing

Magic Study (The Chronicles of Ixia #2) by Maria V. Snyder

1265703A lesson in loyalty – A master class in intrigue

Yelena is a survivor. Kidnapped as a child, held prisoner as a teen, then released to act as a poison taster, she is now a student of magic. But these magic skills place her in imminent danger, and with an execution order on her head, she has no choice but to escape to Sitia, the land of birth
But nothing in Sitia is familiar. As she struggles to understand where she belongs and how to control her powers, a rogue magician emerges – and Yelena catches his eye. Suddenly she is embroiled in a situation not of her making. And once again her magical abilities will either save her life… or be her downfall.

Goodreads

Well, I know I want to continue with this series, so I’ll surely be reading the second book of what I believe is a trilogy, I know there are more books, but well, for now I’ll read the trilogy, which I thought was called Study, but this says The Chronicles of Ixia, so I think it’s called that because it’s part of the many books that are located in the same world, but if I’ wrong just let me know

The Midnight Star (The Young Elites #3) by Marie Lu

28588345There was once a time when darkness shrouded the world, and the darkness had a queen.

Adelina Amouteru is done suffering. She’s turned her back on those who have betrayed her and achieved the ultimate revenge: victory. Her reign as the White Wolf has been a triumphant one, but with each conquest her cruelty only grows. The darkness within her has begun to spiral out of control, threatening to destroy all she’s gained.

When a new danger appears, Adelina’s forced to revisit old wounds, putting not only herself at risk, but every Elite. In order to preserve her empire, Adelina and her Roses must join the Daggers on a perilous quest—though this uneasy alliance may prove to be the real danger.

I’M SAD!, part of me doesn’t want to read this book never , so will somehow never end lol. But I have to face the reality, I hope this book is as good as the previous one and is the cherry of this delicious cake (? LOL, I’m very excited, it will be an emotions roller coaster. I’m dying to read my babies for the last time!

January is a great month of releases, bad news for our pocket! There are so many books that will be released this month which I’m dying to read, and I’ll probably do it with time, but I’ll start with two of them which looks too good!. Both sound super interesting, exciting and above all original. OMG I can not wait !! Plus: THE COVERS 😍

The Extinction Trials (The Extinction Trials #1) by S.M. Wilson

34865995Betrayal. Sacrifice. Survival.
Welcome to the Extinction Trials.

In Stormchaser and Lincoln’s ruined world, the only way to survive is to risk everything. To face a contest more dangerous than anyone can imagine. And they will do anything to win.

But in a land full of monsters – human and reptilian – they can’t afford to trust anyone. Perhaps not even each other…

The Cruel Prince (The Folk of the Air #1) by Holly Black

26032825Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

    1. In fact I wasn’t sure about it either, but it surprised me for good! It’s very addictive, it has political drama, magic secrets and a great slow-burn romance. So if you like that kind of thing, you should give it a try 😊. Thanks! I hope you have a year full of incredible readings💕

  3. I’ve been wanting to read Poison Study for a while now, I’ve been putting off reading it because I wanted to complete some of my other series that I’ve already started.

  4. That looks like a great lineup for January! I can definitely sympathize with your hesitancy to read The Midnight Star–finishing a series is always so bittersweet.
I’m right with you on the goodreads reading goal, too. I set mine even lower, at 30. I want to be reading for fun, and the more pressure I feel, the less fun the reading can be. 😛
Hope your January is going great!

  5. HI! You really don’t have be pressured. Because reading is your hobby (me too) it’s something that we enjoy and something that we don’t have to do because we HAVE TO, but because we WANT TO. I love you! Keep blogging. 💖 I will support you all the way.

  6. Oh, I usually set the GR challenge pretty low.. Yup…it is just easier to not think about it.. and by setting it low, you actually end exceeding it by a huge margin by the end of the year hehe..
