My Favorite Books of the Year! [2017]

Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de Copia de SPRINGTIME (2)

Hi guys!, I hope you’re having a beautiful day. This December I’ve proposed myself to make several of this type of post, I think it’s fun and sums up well how my reading has been this year.
Today I bring you “My Favorite Books of the Year!”, I love to share with you some of the best books I’ve read during 2017. For me, it’s very difficult to add a book to my favorites list, I guess I’m demanding, so not all the books I mention are on that list. But WAIT !, I’m not cheating, they’re all books to which I’ve given 5 stars,  which I love and which I would read again …

I don’t know how you manage your rating system, but not all of my 5 star readings fall on my favorites list, I’m quite selective with the books I put on this list, I can love the book and think it’s fantastic and put it a 5 stars, but I have to feel something really special about the book or don’t stop thinking about so that it go into my list of favorites. It’s also not easy for me to give 5 stars, I’m quite demanding in that sense, there are books that I’ve absolutely loved and still have 4.5 stars, but this is just my way of giving my punctuation and I wanted to share it with you, I don’t like it when I see that someone gives 5 stars to all the books, I feel that that person itsn’t subjective or is influenced by the thoughts of others, you know?. With that said, let’s continue …

I’ll show you the book along with its synopsis and its Goodreads link, in case you’re interested and want to check it out. I’ll not write about each one separately because I would probably be forever writing lol, besides I don’t want to sound repetitive and write about how much that I love the book over and over again, you already know that, otherwise, I wouln’t be adding the book to this list. In Summary: I recommend each of these books, YOU HAVE TO READ IT
Without further ado, I’m super excited to show you my choices this year, so let’s START!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor (COMPLETE Trilogy)

13600168Errand requiring immediate attention. Come.

The note was on vellum, pierced by the talons of the almost-crow that delivered it. Karou read the message. ‘He never says please’, she sighed, but she gathered up her things.

When Brimstone called, she always came.

In general, Karou has managed to keep her two lives in balance. On the one hand, she’s a seventeen-year-old art student in Prague; on the other, errand-girl to a monstrous creature who is the closest thing she has to family. Raised half in our world, half in ‘Elsewhere’, she has never understood Brimstone’s dark work – buying teeth from hunters and murderers – nor how she came into his keeping. She is a secret even to herself, plagued by the sensation that she isn’t whole.

Now the doors to Elsewhere are closing, and Karou must choose between the safety of her human life and the dangers of a war-ravaged world that may hold the answers she has always sought.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas

32320750Kacey is the new girl in Broken Falls. When she moved in with her father, she stepped into a brand-new life. A life with a stepbrother, a stepmother, and strangest of all, an adoring younger half sister.

Kacey’s new life is eerily charming compared with the wild highs and lows of the old one she lived with her volatile mother. And everyone is so nice in Broken Falls—she’s even been welcomed into a tight new circle of friends. Bailey and Jade invite her to do everything with them.

Which is why it’s so odd when they start acting distant. And when they don’t invite her to the biggest party of the year, it doesn’t exactly feel like an accident.

But Kacey will never be able to ask, because Bailey never makes it home from that party. Suddenly, Broken Falls doesn’t seem so welcoming after all—especially once everyone starts looking to the new girl for answers.

Kacey is about to learn some very important lessons: Sometimes appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes when you’re the new girl, you shouldn’t trust anyone.

The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr

31752165It’s not a lie if you can’t remember the truth.

Seventeen-year-old Flora Banks has no short-term memory. Her mind resets itself several times a day, and has since the age of ten, when the tumor that was removed from Flora’s brain took with it her ability to make new memories. That is, until she kisses Drake, her best friend’s boyfriend, the night before he leaves town. Miraculously, this one memory breaks through Flora’s fractured mind, and sticks. Flora is convinced that Drake is responsible for restoring her memory and making her whole again. So when an encouraging email from Drake suggests she meet him on the other side of the world, Flora knows with certainty that this is the first step toward reclaiming her life.

With little more than the words “be brave” inked into her skin, and written reminders of who she is and why her memory is so limited, Flora sets off on an impossible journey to Svalbard, Norway—the land of the midnight sun—determined to find Drake. But from the moment she arrives in the Arctic, nothing is quite as it seems, and Flora must “be brave” if she is ever to learn the truth about herself, and to make it safely home.

Geekerella by Ashley Poston

30724132Geek girl Elle Wittimer lives and breathes Starfield, the classic science-fiction series she grew up watching with her late father. So when she sees a cosplay contest for a new Starfield movie, she has to enter. The prize? An invitation to the ExcelsiCon Cosplay Ball and a meet-and-greet with the actor slated to play Federation Prince Carmindor in the reboot. With savings from her gig at the Magic Pumpkin food truck and her dad’s old costume, Elle’s determined to win – unless her stepsisters get there first.

Teen actor Darien Freeman used to live for cons – before he was famous. Now they’re nothing but autographs and awkward meet-and-greets. Playing Carmindor is all he has ever wanted, but Starfield fandom has written him off as just another dumb heartthrob. As ExcelsiCon draws near, Darien feels more and more like a fake – until he meets a girl who shows him otherwise. But when she disappears at midnight, will he ever be able to find her again?

  1. Great list! I’ve heard so much about the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy over the years and I just really need to stop by my library and read them already!
I totally know what you mean though, a book can be really good and deserve 5 stars without it being a favorite. Favorite books for me are those that just have that magic something that really strikes me and stays with me. I never really know what book will become a favorite or not (:

  2. Excellent list of books. My top reads of the year post will be up on Dec 31. I don’t want to try and say a favorite (or even two) right now as I still have another 10 days of reading, and a surprise read could still rocket to the top of the list.

  3. I wasn’t a big fan of Daughter of Smoke an Bone and I haven’t finished The Young Elites series yet but I loved the first book! And you’re so right about repeating yourself on how much you loved the book when obviously from the title you loved them 😂.

      1. I will, thanks! I love the series and I kinda blew through them quickly so far. The first one is called Dark Lover. 💜💝 So that would be the one I’d have to review first and go from there. I feel so behind on reviews with that series and just other books I’ve read so far in general.
